ALASKAN BREWERIES COME TO MISSOURI FOR SCHLAFLY FESTIVAL

St. Louis, MO—March 4, 2011—Schlafly Beer will showcase the beers of two Alaskan breweries at their annual Repeal of Prohibition Beer Festival, Saturday, April 16th from noon to 5 p.m. at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood. The guest breweries will be Alaskan Brewing Company from Juneau and Midnight Sun Brewing Company from Anchorage. Each brewery will be bringing 8 styles of beer for festival attendees to sample.

Neither Alaskan nor Midnight Sun beers have ever been made available in Missouri.

To honor the occasion, Schlafly will also host a vertical tasting of Schlafly Imperial Stout alongside Alaskan Smoked Porter where guests are served samples of each style of beer from batches brewed in 2007, 2008, and 2009. The Schlafly-Alaskan Vertical Tasting will be Thursday, April 14th at 7 p.m. at the Schlafly Tap Room.

“I am very excited to be participating in the Repeal of Prohibition Festival in April,” says Ann Metcalfe, CFO/HR manager of Alaskan. “Alaskan celebrates its 25th year in business in 2011, and what better way to celebrate than with Schlafly, one of the country’s premier craft brewers, and in St. Louis, one of the great Beer cities of the world?”

Ann will be making the over 2,000 mile journey from Alaska along with Gary Busse, General Manager of Midnight Sun Brewing Company.

“I must admit, other than the Gateway Arch and Albert Pujols, I don’t know a whole lot about St. Louis,” jokes Busse who has never been to St. Louis before. “I’m looking forward to the visit and the chance to sample beers from Schlafly and other area breweries that I’ve never tried before.”

Tickets to the Repeal of Prohibition Beer Festival are on sale now. The cost is $25 before the event and $30 on the day of the event. Tickets to the Schlafly-Alaskan Vertical Tasting go on sale March 15th.
